The route

Mount Everest has a fascinating history. In the decades of the 20s and 30s of the last century many unsuccessful attempts were counted to crown the 8,848 meters of the mountain, although the altitude of 8,000 meters was reached on several occasions. Finally, in 1953 the British team led by John Hunt managed to bring New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Norgay Tenzing to the top.

Today the route to Everest Base Camp (5364 meters) is the most popular in Nepal and one of the favorites of trekkers from around the world. Despite its height and the challenge that this trip entails, it is highly feasible to do regardless of physical condition, age or gender.

The itinerary begins in Kathmandu towards Lukla (at an altitude of 2,860 meters), a town reached after a 40-minute flight in the Khumbu region, in eastern Nepal. Continue through Phakding, with an important monastery, and Monzo, until you reach the colorful Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar (3,450 m), with its waterfalls and rhododendron forests nearby. On clear days you can enjoy the first views of Everest. You spend a day at Namche Bazaar to give your body a break and acclimatize to the altitude.

The march continues through Deboche and faces the climb to Tengboche, famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in the Khumbu. There are spectacular views of the peaks of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. We continue to Dingboche (4,350 m) and Pheriche, where the second day of acclimatization is spent. The road to Lobuche is resumed, along the moraine of the Khumbu glacier, until reaching Gorak Shep. The ascent to Kala Pattar (5,545 m), the highest point of the trek, allows you to enjoy the most amazing views of Everest.

And you reach the Base Camp (5,276 m), where surely there are groups of climbers preparing and waiting for the right moment to start the attack to the top. At the Base Camp you stay a few hours or spend the night in one of the tents installed there “Everest Base Camp Trekking” Nepal Permission: The visa can be obtained at the Kathmandu airport upon arrival, you can get it for 30 days or more.
