Women to La Paz

From Mujeres a la Cumbre we invite you to “Women to la Paz” a wonderful experience with the Cholitas that begins in La Paz, Bolivia. The Cholitas Escaladoras are a group of Bolivian Aymara women who have conquered peaks such as Illimani or Parinacota, in addition to many other six thousand in South America.

The route

We will enter the heart of the Cordillera Real, the Condoriri National Park, which is home to more than twenty mountain peaks, some of which exceed 5,000 meters in altitude.

A nature reserve, also known for being home to many snow-capped peaks. Given the characteristics of Bolivia, and especially of this area of mountains, we can enjoy an Andean scenery, pure and natural.

Itinerary

DAY 1: La Paz (3640m)

Arrival in the city of La Paz (3640 masl), capital of Bolivia. We will have a city tour that begins at 3 pm through this picturesque city, to learn about its fairs, culture and local markets.
We will carry out the equipment check and leave everything ready for the days of our expedition in the mountains. Tonight’s accommodation will be in a hotel.

DAY 2: La Paz (3640m) - Excursion to Tiahuanaco

This tour to Tiahuanaco or Tiwanaku (*), starts from the city of La Paz with the transfer from the hotel, between 08.00-09.00 am. We will travel by shared transport to the monument of «Tiwanaku», known worldwide as the greatest example of the degree of perfection reached by the country’s culture. The tour lasts 2 hours from the city of La Paz. We will continue our visit to the conventional museum and interpretation, the archaeological ceremonial center, the semi-underground temple, the Kalasasaya temple, the Puerta del Sol, the monoliths of Ponce and Fraile, the astronomical temples. We will also visit the lithic museum where one of the most important sculptures is located, such as the Bennett monolith or “Pacha Mama”. To conclude, we will visit the artisan center. We will return to the city of La Paz in the afternoon. Night in hotel.

DAY 3: La Paz (3640m) - Condoriri Base Camp (4700m)

From this day on, the Cholitas Escaladoras will accompany us, who will guide us during our expedition in the mountains; while we can share life experiences and talk closely with them throughout our stay in the mountains.
Departing with an early breakfast, we will leave La Paz at 8:00 am by private transport. We will cross the Bolivian highlands surrounded by incredible Andean mountain ranges. After 3 hours of travel, we will arrive at a place called La Rinconada de Condoriri, which is located at 4500 meters above sea level.
There the donkeys will wait for us to transport the food and our equipment. We will do a 2-hour trek to the Condoriri Base Camp (4700 masl).
We will have time for talks and reflections along with an offering to the Pacha mama.
Tonight it will be in a mountain refuge.

DAY 4: Condoriri Base Camp (4700m) / Cerro Pico Mirador (5200m) / Condoriri Base Camp (4700m)

This day will be key for our acclimatization to the altitude.
We will leave at 9:00 am from the Condori Base Camp in the direction of Pico Mirador (5200 masl).
We contemplate 3 hours of trekking towards the summit to return later to the Condoriri base camp. Upon return we will dedicate a space for introspection and gratitude activities.
Tonight will also be in the shelter.

DAY 5: Condoriri Base Camp (4700m) / Cerro Pico Austria (5270m) / Condoriri Base Camp (4700m)

This day we start our trekking at 9:00 am after breakfast, from Condoriri base camp towards Cerro Pico Austria (5270 masl).
It will be a 3-4 hour hike to the top to then return to base camp.
It will be our closing night of experiences with the Cholitas. We will share a special dinner with them. Last night in the mountain refuge.

DAY 6: Condoriri Base Camp (4700m) / Return to La Paz (3640m) via / Tuni Condoriri

It is our day back to the city of La Paz. After breakfast we begin the return by another route: this time we will go to the town of Tuni Condoriri which is located at 4800 meters above sea level. It is approximately 4 hours of trekking. We will arrive at noon for lunch
in a typical place in Tuni. After arriving at our hotel in La Paz, we will have time to take a free walk in the afternoon, for example, visit the Las Brujas Market, Plaza Murillo, Killi Killi Viewpoint, and / or Museum of Musical Instruments (*). Night at the hotel.

Day 7: La Paz (3640m)

Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfers to the airport. Farewell and termination of services.
